With the online search tool facilitated by the New Mexico Secretary of State, you can search the database for the names of all registered LLCs. Doing this search before attempting to register your LLC is important as every LLC in the state must have a unique name.

Read on to understand the process for searching registered LLCs in New Mexico.

Step 1. Visit the Secretary of State’s website to begin your search.

Step 2. Next, enter the LLC name you want to register in the “Entity Name / DBA Name” field. In this example, we will search for “Mobile Muscle”.

As it turns out, the name “Mobile Muscle” is already registered to an existing business and as such can’t be registered by anyone else.

The detailed page provides quite a bit of information about the business including:

  • Business ID
  • Entity Name
  • Status
  • Standing (Good Standing means the entity is current with all reports and registrations)
  • Entity Type
  • Formation Date
  • New Mexico Registered Agent Information
  • Principal Place of Business

If your search comes back with the message “No data found” your name should be available to use.
