The Business Corporation registry is maintained by the Business Services division of the South Dakota Secretary of State. Along with filing and registering of business entities and corporate in the state, it also keeps records of every entity that is registered with the Secretary of State.

To search available LLC names in South Dakota, follow the following steps.
Step 1 – Visit the South Dakota Secretary of State website, Business Information Search page to begin your search search. Enter the name you would like to register in the “Search Name” field.
Step 2 – In this example we will search for the business name “Flex Gym”. It turns out this name is in use and the results are below.

Additionally, on this page some documents can be downloaded such as the Articles of Incorporation (Corporation), Articles of Organization (Limited Liability Company) and more. For a small fee, a Certificate of Good Standing can be ordered.
If search results come back with “No Records Found…”, the LLC name should be available.
