Searching LLC Names in Nevada
The Secretary of State of Nevada facilitates an online search tool for finding registered business entities in the state. Using this tool before trying to form a LLC is important as each LLC in the state must register a unique name. Confirming the name you want is available can save considerable time.
Here, we present a simple guideline of how to conduct the search. Read on to understand the process better:
Step 1. Visit the Nevada Secretary of State’s website to go to the Search Page. The page looks similar to the screenshot below.
Step 2. Keep the default search in the “Search by” field as “Entity Name”. In the field to the right, enter the name of the LLC you would like to register.
In this example, we will search for the name “Musclestache”.
Step 3. It turns out, another LLC has registered the name Musclestache, so nobody else can register it.
Looking at the name result, we can get additional details on the entity. Some of the available information includes:
- Business Name
- Type (Corporation, Limited Liability Company)
- Business ID
- File Date
- Nevada Registered Agent Information
- Officer / Board of Director Information
If the search comes back with the result “No results for the entity name search”, it is likely the name you want to register is available.
